Red Deer Regional Airport (YQF) is pleased to announce significant achievements showcased during its 2023 annual public meeting

Red Deer, AB, May 8, 2024 – The Red Deer Regional Airport is pleased to announce significant achievements showcased during its 2023 annual public meeting, highlighting remarkable progress and steadfast community support. With the $30 million expansion project currently underway, bolstered by grants from the Government of Alberta, The City of Red Deer, and Red Deer County, the airport stands at a pivotal juncture in its growth trajectory.

In July 2023, the Red Deer Regional Airport recently marked the completion of Phase 1 of its expansion plan, featuring the widening of the main runway and reinforcement of the taxiway/apron infrastructure. Phases 2 and 3 are progressing steadily, with the terminal slated for completion in July 2024 and the commencement of Airport Drive in May 2024.

Nancy Paish, Interim CEO of the Red Deer Regional Airport states “As we reflect on the milestones achieved during our 2023 annual public meeting, we are proud to announce significant strides in our expansion journey. With a notable surge of 35% in operating revenue and 25% in net income reflects the success of existing business operations and the emergence of new revenue streams. It is an exciting time for the Red Deer Regional Airport.”

Red Deer Regional Airport extended its support to 15 non-profit organizations through community events, raising over $38,000 to aid their causes in 2023. These events, including the Red Deer Regional Airshow, Westerner Days Boot Scootin BBQ, the Canadian Finals Rodeo, Girls In Aviation Day, and The Red Deer & District Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Awards, among others, not only contribute to the region’s economic prosperity but also foster community engagement with the aviation industry.

Concluding the announcements, the Red Deer Regional Airport unveiled its new brand, signaling a fresh perspective for its onward journey. This emblem, paying tribute to the esteemed legacy of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) through the incorporation of its colors, signifies the airport’s readiness for a new chapter of growth and success to attract development and partnerships into the region.
