Get airside access at YQF

Below you will see a list of items required to attain the proper clearance and documentation for your business at the Red Deer Regional Airport. Important Note

High visibility vests and valid airport identification are required at all times when accessing Red Deer Regional Airport airside property.

Airside Access

This access is required if you are an individual who requires airside access without driving privileges.

Examples of these employees may be:

  • Operations
  • Administration

Please complete steps in the following order to attain this level of security clearance, and receive an Identification Pass – Non-Restricted Airside Area.

  1. Apply for an Identification Pass via the web form found below. You will be contacted and sent the appropriate Consolidated Security Application for your needs.
  2. Once completed, return the Application form to our Director, Safety and Security.
  3. An appointment will be set up to complete the process, including taking a head and shoulder photo for the Identification Pass.

Airside & Apron

This access is required if you are an individual who requires airside access to the Aprons, or regular access to an airside hangar. This level of clearance requires a written declaration and proof of understanding of Airport Driving Regulations.

Examples of these employees may be:

  • Couriers
  • Mechanics Operating Tow Equipment
  • Pilots Accessing Private Hangers

Please complete steps in the following order to attain this level of security clearance, and receive an Identification Pass – Non-Restricted Airside Areas.

  1. Review the Airport Traffic Directives (which will be used for a multiple choice questionnaire to obtain “A” Level AVOP Certification).
  2. Apply for an Identification Pass via the web form found below. You will be contacted and sent the appropriate Consolidated Security Application for your needs.
  3. Once completed, return the Application form to the Director, Safety and Security.
  4. An appointment will be set up to complete the process, including taking a head and shoulder photo for the Identification Pass and completion of the “A” Level AVOP declaration and questionnaire.

Airside Apron & Taxiway

This access is required if you are an individual who requires airside access to the Aprons, Taxiways, and/or regular access to an airside hangar. This level of clearance requires both a written and practical exam.

Examples of these employees may be:

  • Fuelling Operators
  • Baggage Handling
  • De-Icing Operations

Please complete steps in the following order to attain this level of security clearance, and receive an Identification Pass – Non-Restricted Airside Areas.

  1. Review the Airport Traffic Directives (which will be used for your written exam that must be completed and passed with a grade of 80% or higher).
  2. Apply for an Identification Pass via the web form found below. You will be contacted and sent the appropriate Consolidated Security Application for your needs.
  3. Return the Application form to the Director, Safety and Security, along with a copy of your Restricted Operator Certificate – Aeronautical (required) to the Director, Safety and Security.
  4. An appointment will be set up to complete the written portion of the AVOP exam.
  5. Upon successful completion of the written portion, a driving exam will be booked with the Director, Airport Operations.
  6. Once all examinations have been completed to the required standard and all documentation is received, an appointment will be set up to complete the process, including taking a head and shoulder photo for the Identification Pass.

Identification Passes must be picked up in person, from the Airport Administration Office located at 3800 Airport Drive Springbrook, AB T4S 0E2
