Red Deer, AB – September 18, 2024 – Girls in Aviation Day 2024 is ready to take flight on Saturday, September 21, at Red Deer Regional Airport, inviting our community to explore aviation. This annual event aims to spark inspiration and curiosity in the next generation of female aviation professionals through hands-on experiences, engaging STEM activities, and one-on-one interactions with industry leaders.

Participants will have the opportunity to engage in various STEM-focused activities, explore aircraft up close, and connect with over 30 exhibitors representing different sectors of aviation, including flight schools, maintenance, air traffic control, ground operations and more. Exhibitors will offer insights into the technical and operational sides of the industry, showcasing career paths that range from piloting and engineering to aviation management and airport operations.

“We’re excited to open our doors and give young women a first-hand look at the limitless possibilities aviation has to offer,” said Ashley Nelson, Director of Business Development and Communications at Red Deer Regional Airport. “Girls in Aviation Day is all about inspiring and empowering future aviators by providing access to resources, mentorship, and experiences that can ignite their passion for the skies.”

A key highlight of the day will be meet-and-greet sessions with over 30 renowned aviation professionals from across Canada. These industry veterans will share their career journeys, provide mentorship, and answer questions from aspiring aviators.

New this year is, the Elevate Experience!  Offering girls aged 15 and older a tailored session focused on 1-1 individual speed mentoring, post-secondary information and explore advanced career pathways. Participants will leave with not only valuable insights but also exclusive take-home packages filled with educational and career resources.

“The Girls In Aviation Day Committee has worked hard to create an environment where young girls can be inspired by both the hands-on activities and the stories shared by accomplished women in the aviation industry.
