Flying your drone safely

Red Deer Regional Airport is committed to the safety and security of our facilities and community, which includes providing resources on our national regulations, reporting, and approval processes for flying drones near YQF. If you own or fly a drone, please ensure you know the rules and regulations ahead of your next flight.

In particular, please note the following.

To operate within the 9 km controlled airspace around the airport (indicated by the red circle), drone pilots need an advanced RPA pilot certificate, a drone with the appropriate manufacturer safety declaration, and authorization from Transport Canada and the local NAV CANADA ATC prior to doing so.
