Red Deer, AB – September 25 , 2024 – Red Deer Regional Airport is proud to announce the grand opening of its highly anticipated new terminal on Thursday, September 26, 2024. This significant milestone coincides with the airport authority’s 25th anniversary, marking a quarter-century of service to the community and the region’s aviation industry.

The new terminal includes a 10,000-square-foot addition designed to meet the demands of modern air travel. It features upgraded amenities such as a dedicated security screening area, baggage pick-up space, and a future customs area to accommodate international flights. The facility is built to handle the capacity of a full Boeing 737-800, which carries up to 189 passengers—ensuring seamless service for future commercial flights and expanding the airport’s capabilities.

The public is invited to attend this celebratory event from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with the official ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for 6:00 PM. As part of the festivities, the first 200 guests will be treated to a complimentary BBQ, adding to the welcoming atmosphere of the occasion. Attendees will also have the opportunity to experience an interactive journey through the airport’s rich history, explore current operations, and discover future land development plans.

This new terminal represents a significant investment in the future of the airport, aimed at enhancing the experience for passengers, businesses, and the community at large. The modern facility is designed to support the growing needs of regional travelers and businesses while reinforcing the airport’s commitment to innovation and excellence.
