Marketing & Events Assistant (Summer Position)

Location: Red Deer Regional Airport – Springbrook, Alberta
Position Type: Temporary Summer Position
Duration: May – August
Hours: 40 hours per week
Wage: $18.00/hour

Position Overview
The Marketing & Events Assistant will support the Airport’s marketing initiatives and assist with planning and coordinating community and airport events. This role is ideal for someone interested in marketing, communications, event planning, or community engagement. Working closely with the Director of Business Development & Communications and airport leadership, the successful candidate will gain hands on experience in event logistics, marketing coordination, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the execution of the airport’s marketing and communications initiatives
  • Support planning and coordination of airport events, trade shows, and community engagement activities
  • Assist with organizing event logistics including vendors, volunteers, signage, and equipment
  • Coordinate event services such as facilities, transportation, accommodations, and catering
  • Manage event registration for participants, volunteers, tenants, and sponsors
  • Assist with on-site event coordination and logistics
  • Prepare and proofread marketing materials, correspondence, presentations, and reports
  • Compile event data, surveys, and performance metrics for evaluation
  • Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers during events
  • Ensure compliance with airport safety and operational policies during events
  • Follow all airport safety procedures and workplace regulations

Qualifications & Eligibility

  • Interest in marketing, communications, tourism, aviation, or event management
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a dynamic environment
  • Comfortable interacting with the public and community partners
  • Basic digital skills (Microsoft Office, social media platforms, etc.)
  • Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events
  • This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must: Be between 15 and 30 years of age, be legally entitled to work in Canada, and returning to school in the fall

Operations & Grounds Maintenance Assistant (Summer Position)

Location: Red Deer Regional Airport – Springbrook, Alberta
Position Type: Temporary Summer Position
Duration: May–August

Position Overview
The Operations & Grounds Maintenance Assistant will support airport operations staff with maintaining landscaped areas, airport grounds, and surrounding facilities. This role provides valuable hands-on experience in operational maintenance, environmental stewardship, and safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with landscaping and grounds maintenance across airport property
  • Spread topsoil, lay sod, and plant flowers, grass, shrubs, and trees
  • Cut grass and maintain lawns, gardens, and roadside landscaping
  • Rake, aerate, fertilize, and water lawns as needed
  • Prune shrubs and trees and assist with vegetation management
  • Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and pruning tools
  • Assist with pest and plant disease control as directed
  • Perform general maintenance and cleanup of landscaped areas
  • Follow all airport safety procedures and workplace regulations
  • Provide occasional administrative or operational support as needed

Qualifications & Eligibility:

  • Ability to perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Interest in landscaping, environmental work, or operations
  • Ability to safely operate equipment or willingness to learn
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work as part of a team
  • Attention to safety and detail
