Red Deer Regional Airport (YQF) is proud to highlight key accomplishments presented at its 2024 Annual Public Meeting.
Red Deer, AB, April 30, 2025 – Red Deer Regional Airport (YQF) proudly celebrated a year of transformative progress and milestone achievements during its 2024 Annual Public Meeting, reflecting the airport’s ongoing commitment to growth, innovation, and service excellence.
Before reflecting on the successes of the past year, a new shift in the Red Deer Regional Board was announced: out going Board Chair Iaian Park welcomed newly appointed Casey Setters, into the role and Andy Metzger as the new Vice-Chair. Iaian Park will remain on the board as Past Chair. Following the announcement, attention turned to the successes of 2024 and the vision for the year ahead.
A highlight of the year was the successful completion of Phase 2 of the Airport Expansion Project in September 2024. This phase included a significant terminal expansion, now capable of accommodating over 180 passengers for both scheduled and charter flights. The upgraded terminal not only enhances passenger experience but also marks a strategic leap forward in the airport’s capacity for future service offerings. The unveiling coincided with the 25th Anniversary of the Red Deer Regional Airport Authority, making it a moment of both celebration and vision for the future.

Phase 3 of the expansion began in 2024 with funding from the Province of Alberta, supporting key infrastructure improvements. This phase includes the extension of Taxiway Alpha, installation of essential services, and enhanced access along Airport Drive (TWP 372 to 374). Undertaken in collaboration with Red Deer County, the project is expected to be completed by Spring 2026, further positioning YQF as a vital regional transportation hub.
Nancy Paish, CEO of the Red Deer Regional Airport states “As we reflect on the significant achievements of 2024, including the successful terminal expansion, strong financial performance, and the launch of key infrastructure projects, it’s clear that Red Deer Regional Airport is on a dynamic growth path. Our continued operational excellence highlight the strength of our team and the value we bring to Central Alberta. It’s an exciting time for the airport and the region—we are ready to fly”.
Red Deer Regional Airport remains actively engaged with the broader Central Alberta community by hosting and participating in a variety of local events. Highlights include the Westerner Days Boot Scootin’ BBQ, Girls in Aviation Day, and the Red Deer & District Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Awards. These events not only support regional economic development but also strengthen community connections and promote greater awareness of the aviation industry.
Looking ahead to 2025, Red Deer Regional Airport announced that its priorities will center on enhancing aviation services, with a strong emphasis on expanding passenger service and increasing charter traffic. Additional focus areas include advancing land development, securing an anchor tenant for the north end development, strengthening tenant and stakeholder relations and continuing to serve as a prominent leader and representative within the community.
Red Deer Regional Airport is committed to being a responsible steward of all financial contributions received from local municipalities and the Province of Alberta. These funds are critical in maintaining essential infrastructure and ensuring regulatory compliance, efforts that support more than 200 aviation industry jobs in our community.
